Objective Investigate the protective effect of ascorbic acid on secondary brain injury caused by traumatic brain injury and its possible mechanism.Methods The rats were randomly divided into sham + saline group, sham + ascorbic acid group,hit + saline group and hit + ascorbic acid groups. Establish moderate traumatic brain injury model,24 hours after traumatic brain injuries neurological injury score; 24 hours after traumatic brain injury brain water content was measured; measured 24 hours after traumatic brain barrier permeability; The activity of superoxide dismutase in brain tissue were measured by ELISA;by Western blot After determination of traumatic brain injury 24 hours of brain tissue damage tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF- α), CYP2E1,Occludin, MMP-9(matrix metalloprotein-9) and aquaporin 4(AQP-4) expression.Results hit + saline group, the degree of neurologic injury blow + ascorbic acid group mitigate and reduce brain edema, significantly reduced the extent of damage to the blood brain barrier, TNF-α, CYP2E1, MMP-9 and AQP-4 reduced, The activity of superoxide and Occludin increased.Conclusion ascorbic acid can reduce brain edema and fight against the destruction of the blood-brain barrier.The mechanism is inhibiting CYP2E1’s expression.
