Vision is the main way for human to obtain external information. Blindness caused by various lesions on visual pathway, has affected the quality of human’s life badly. Research on visual prosthesis has made rapid progress and brought good news for blind patients by implanting microelectrode array into specified area on visual pathway and carrying electri-stimulation to generate phosphene so as to help blind people recover basic vision. Primary visual cortical prosthesis is a kind of artificial visual prosthesis, Because the microelectrode array implanted in the visual cortex,bypassing the possible diseases of the retina and optic nerve, so the cortical visual prosthesis can treat more patients, the research theory significance and the practical significance also more value.On the basis of analyzing the present situation of the research of the visual prosthesis in the home and abroad, this paper puts forward the design scheme of the artificial vision prosthesis system based on the primary visual cortex and the implementation method of the front-end. Based on this project, this thesis mainly completed the following three aspects of the work:(1)According to the requirements of the human vision, we selected the two CMOS camera which meet the requirements of system design, and using the dual cameras to acquire the image, and joining the acquired video information to Simulate human visual.(2) According to the number of implanted electrode array, the mosaic image filtering processing, edge extraction, enhancement processing, pixel to reduce operation, meet the requirement of the encoding image; then according to the processing mechanisms of the visual cortical neurons, used the sparse coding method for the image to solve the neuron response coefficient, provided basis for the following electrical stimulation of neurons.(3) According to the requirement of electrode stimulation, a new current stimulation scheme was designed. And through the MATLAB simulation of the program to ensure that through the program to stimulate the current needs of neuronsto stimulate the low intensity of the current stimulus and the small damage to the biological tissue.
