ObjectiveWe aim to observe and assess the efficacy about TCM(traditional Chinese medicine) syndromes, and the recurrence rate in patients with nephrotic syndrome who are separately treated by Huai qi huang particles, self-prescription and only western medicine. Also, we provide the basis for auxiliary treatment of children with primary nephrotic syndrome(PNS) of traditional Chinese medicine.MethodsThe children with PNS who met the inclusion criteria were divide into three groups according to their thrapy, including the Huai qi huang particles group, self-prescription group and only western medicine group. Then we observed and took the follow-up visit for their TCM syndromes, and we filled in the forms of NS TCM syndrome about Qi and Yin deficiency every three months. We compared three groups’s curative effect, and counted up the number and the reason of NS recurrence.Results1. To compare the treatment effectiveness of self-prescription group, Huai qi huang particles group and only western medicine group:the effective treatment for the third month were respectively 64%,50%,42%. In addition, the effective treatment for the sixth month were respectively 79%,77%and 79%. Both in these time-piont, we can see that the treatment effectiveness of the huai qi huang particles group and self-prescription group were better than the only western medicine group’s. However, the comparison of these effectiveness had no statistical difference.2. It showed that the self-prescription group created the higher rate of disappearance significantly, compared with western medicine group. What’s more, Huai qi huang particles group had more advantages than the only western medicine group on disappearance of spontaneous perspiration.3. Three groups of children with nephrotic syndrome in there were no statistical differences of recurrence rate. Three groups of children with nephrotic syndrome in there were no statistical differences of recurrence factors, were given priority to with respiratory tract infection.4. The second-line drugs utilization rate were 10%,2%and 53%respectively on self-prescription group, huai qi huang particles group and western medicine group And the second-line drugs utilization rate of the self-prescription group and huai qi huang particles group were significantly lower than western medicine group’s, since there were no significant differences between the self-prescription group and huai qi huang particles group.Conclusion1. Within the scope of this study, since the self-prescription group and huai qi huang particles group can better improve the efficient of syndromes than western medicine group, there were no significant differences. The reason that chinese medicine treatment for nephrotic syndrome in symptomatic improvement is invalid or not, may be associated with into the group of case quantity is little.2. Compared with western medicine group on the single symptom: self-prescription group better improve the curative effect of spontaneous perspiration, feverishness in palms and soles. However, huai qi huang particles group only to improve the symptoms of spontaneous sweating the curative effect is obvious. This suggests that Chinese medicine can improve some symptoms of nephrotic syndrome patients.3. Since the second-line drugs utilization rate of western medicine group is higher than the self-prescription group’s and huai qi huang granules group’s, but there were no significant differences of recurrence rate among these three groups. It shows that Chinese medicine treatment of nephrotic syndrome in the aspect of reducing the recurrence rate may play a role similar to second-line drugs. And it suggests that Chinese medicine intervention can reduce the second-line drugs usage of the children with nephrotic syndrome.
