Objective Cognitive function impairment is one of the common consequences after traumatic brain injury, We investigate characteristics of cognitive dysfunction and its correlation with craniocerebral injury type after mild traumatic brain injury, and provide the evidence for early diagnosis and treatment of cognitive dysfunction. Methods 30 patients with mild brain injury and 30 health controls participated in the test from the third hospital affiliated to Soochow University using the Mini-mental state examination(MMSE) and Montreal cognitive assessment(Mo CA) to assess cognitive function,Results 1.The total score of Mo CA(TBI: 20.63±3.97,Control: 24.86±3.20) and MMSE(TBI: 27.73±1.89,Control: 28.56±1.27) in TBI group was lower than that of health group. In some sub-scale score of Mo CA in m TBI of visual-spatial and executive function(TBI: 3.00±1.41,Control: 4.10±0.84) was lower than that of health group. The score of attention and calculation ability(TBI:4.76±1.19,Control:5.43±0.54) in m TBI group was lower than that of health group. The score of language(TBI: 1.33±0.71,Control: 1.90±0.80) in m TBI was lower than that of health group The score of abstract(TBI: 0.80±0.61,Control: 1.23±0.67) in m TBI was lower than that of health group, The score of delayed memory(TBI: 2.36±1.15,Control: 3.76±1.00) in m TBI was lower than that of health group. The sub-scale score of MMSE of attention and calculation ability(TBI: 3.60±0.81,Control: 4.70±0.70) in m TBI was lower than that of health group. Each of these correlations reaches the level of significance at the 5% level(P<0.05).2.As the standard of Mo CA, there was significant difference in CT manifestation(contusion, intracranial hematoma, etc)between m TBI patients with and without cognitive dysfunction. Spearman rank correlation analysis showed contusion intracranial hematoma were the major factors for cognitive dysfunction. Conclusion Mild traumatic brain injury(m TBI) patients exhibit cognitive dysfunction after brain injury, its main impairment performance were visual-spatial and executive function, attention, calculation ability, language, abstract, and delayed memory. Contusion, intracranial hematoma were the major factors for cognitive dysfunction after brain injury.
