Nowadays,cancer has become one of the most serious diseases all over the world. Traditional cancer treatments show several drawbacks such as inadequate treatment, high side effects, low survival rate, long treatment cycle and so on, which don’t meet the requirements of effective cancer treatment. Photodynamic therapy(PDT) and photothermal therapy(PTT), emerging and novel cancer therapeutic modalities, have drawn much attention and developed rapidly due to non-malignant lesions, high selectivity, low side effects, short treatment cycle, no drug resistance and immune suppression.Herein, the water-soluble conjugated polymer based on diketopyrrolopyrrole is designed and synthesized in order to overcome hydrophobicity, bad biocompatibility, low photostability and weak absorbance in near infrared light. The polymer has the ability to combine photodynamic therapy and photothermal therapy under the monitoring of photoacoustic imaging by testing the polymer.
