Objective: To observe the regulatory effect of silver needle acupuncture treatment on central neurotransmitters in spinal cord of rats with myofascial pain syndrome..Methods : A total of 24 SD rats were divided into 3 groups randomly(n=8):normal group, model group and silver needle group.Normal group were given no stimulation.Model group and silver needle groupadopted strike combine with fatigue exercises to stimulate myofascial pain syndrome model, rats in silver needle group accepted silver needle heat conduction therapy after the success of the model.Paw withdrawal thermal latency, spontaneous potential were estimated 2 weeks after treatment. Then, rats were executed, HE staining was done to observe the common change of the local right thigh muscles slices andimmunohisto- chemicalstaining was used to detected the expression of nNOS,SP and 5-HT in L4-6 spinal segments. Results:Compared with normal group, paw withdrawal thermal latency of model group dereased; spontaneous electrical activity of vastus medialis muscle increased; The expression of nNOS and SP in spinal cord increased(p<0.01).Compared with model group, paw withdrawal thermal latency of silver needle group were enhanced significantly(p<0.01);spontaneous electrical activity decreased(p<0.01);nNOS and SP in spinal cord decreased(p<0.01) and 5-HT increased significantly(p<0.01).Conclusions: Silver needle therapy may play a role of analgesia by reducing nNOS,SP and increasing the expression of 5-HT.
