Objective:In this paper we sought to determine the lumbar lordosis change after Posterior lumbar interbody fusion(PLIF)or transforaminallumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) of the L4/5 single segment in Patients With Lumbar Spinal Canal Stenosis. Methods:Between Jan 2012 and Jan 2014,49 patients underwent PLIF or TLIF of the L4/5 single segment, Standard preoperative and latest follow-up standing lumbar spine radiographs were examined. Preoperative and latest follow-up lumbar lordosis and segmental lumbar lordosis were measured and comparedResults:There 25 patients in the PLIF group,14 male and 11 female, the average age was 56.3y, the average follow-up time was 12.16mom. There 24 patients in the TLIF group,14 male and 10 female, the average age was 57.3y, the average follow-up time was 12.79mom. There was no significant difference in baseline data between the two groups (P>0.05).The preoperative average LL and SLL in the PLIF group were 25.28°and 11.28°, the preoperative average LL and SLL in the TLIF group were 23.08°and 11.25°, There was no significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). The latest follow-up average LL and SLL in the PLIF group were 35.64°and 19.04°, there was significant difference compared with preoperative (P<0.05). The latest follow-up average LL and SLL in the TLIF group were 27.67°and 15.17°, there was significant difference compared with preoperative (P<0.05). The average LL and SLL in the PLIF group were higher than the TLIF group at the latest follow-up, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05)Conclusion:PLIF and TLIF operation can effectively increase the postoperative lumbar lordosis and segmental lumbar lordosis of patients with spinal canal stenosis, and the PLIF group is superior than the TLIF group, we consider that, the PLIF permit greater degrees of posterior element resection and more compressive forces, and can place the interbody spacer as anteriorly as possible, so the PLIF group is superior than the TLIF group.
