Objective:For the patients of liver metastases after curative resection of colorectal cancer, the only potentially curative treatment is surgical resection currently. The aim of this study was to evaluate the security and feasibility of laparoscopic surgery for liver metastasis after curative resection of colorectal cancer.Methods:38 cases of liver metastasis after curative resection of colorectal cancer who had underwent surgery were collected from August 1 st,2007 to August 31th,2015 in Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital. Two groups was divided according to the surgical modalities, laparoscopic group and open group. And a retrospective study was conducted to analyze the clinical data of patients. Observation indexes mainly included operation time, intra-operative bleeding, postoperative hospitalization days, postoperative complication rate, and long-term follow-up results. Results:Operation time of laparoscopic group was shorter than open group’s (160.94±77.64min vs 188.42±63.66min), operative blood loss of laparoscopic group was 200±235.94ml, which was less than that of open group with 436.11±421.41ml, both were of no statistical difference. The mean postoperative hospitalization days of laparoscopic group were significantly shorter than open group’s(5.72±3.56 days vs 10.15±5.04 days, P=0.004),the postoperative complication rate of laparoscopic group was better than open group’s (11.1% vs 40%, P=0.043),there was no perioperative deaths in both groups. The 1-year,2-year disease-free survival rates of laparoscopic and open group were 56.5%,56.5% and 55%,44%,respectively, no statistical difference was found in long-term follow-up results between the laparoscopic and open group (P=0.897).Conclusion:For the patients of liver metastases after curative resection of colorectal cancer, laparoscopic hepatectomy is safe and feasible. In terms of short-term efficacy, such as postoperative complication rate and postoperative hospitalization days, laparoscopic group performed better than open group. No significant differences was found in long-term prognosis between the laparoscopic surgery and laparotomy.
