Aim:To investigate the determinants of calcification in intracranial vertebral arteries(IVA) in acute ischemic stroke patients.Method:We retrospectively review the clinical data of patients who admitted in our department due to acute ischemic stroke. To quantify the volume of IVAC all patients underwent a computed tomography angiography of the intracranial arteries.According to the calcification of IVA,patients were divided into two groups. Determinants of IVAC were investigated by one-factor analysis and binary logistic regression modeling.Results:(1) The overall prevalence of IVAC was 23.8%.Age and hypertension was independently associated with rvAC(OR,1.048[95%CI,1.00-1.09]andOR,4.32[95%CI 1.33-14.02]).Besides,severe ICAC was also independently associated with IVAC(OR,3.539[95%CI,1.52-8.22]);(2) The alkaline phosphatase level maybe a protective factor of IVAC(OR,0.973 [95%CI,0.953-0.993]);(3) Alcohol intake and high-density-lipoprotein concentration may associated with IVAC;(4) The calcification of IVA is more likely to affect the dominant one, and IVAV in the left one is more common. Conclusion:Age,hypertension and the severe degree of ICAC were independently associated with IVAC in acute ischemic stroke patients. And the calcification of IVA is more likely to affect the dominant one.
