ObjectiveTo investigate clinical effects of Traditional Chinese Medicine and sclerotherapy in the treatment of severe Cirrhosis esophageal varices.Methods(1) Clinical data of 162 severe esophageal varices patients hospitalized in Shandong Provincial Hospital Affiliated to Shandong University from September 1, 2013 to January 31,2013 was collected. All the patients were randomly divided into the treatment group (41 cases) and the control group (121 cases). The treatment group was divided into liver kidney yin insufficiency (47cases), internal accumulation of dampness-heat (38 cases) and obstruction of collaterals by blood stasis (36 cases).(2) All the patients were given endoscopic injection sclerotherapy treatment. The 3 types of the treatment group patients were given Yiguanjian, Yinchenhao decoction and Gexiazhuyu decoction for 3 months on the basis of EIS treatment.(3)A11 the patients were followed up for 3 months,6 months,12 months and 21 months after given endoscopic injection sclerotherapy and Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment. Observe and compare the average number of EIS treatment, varices efficiency rate, varices recurrence rate, average varices recurrence time, re-bleeding rate, average re-bleeding time and mortality rate of the patients before and after treatment.Results(1) The average number of EIS treatment of the three types of the treatment group were 2.43±0.95,2.40±0.89 and 2.38±0.82, significantly less than 3.06± 1.26 of the control group, the difference was significant (P<0.05). There was no difference between the three treatment types (P>0.05).(2) The varices efficiency rate of the three types of the treatment group were 85.71%,86.67%and 89.66%, higher than 64.52% of the control group (P<0.05). There was no difference between the three types of the treatment group (P>0.05).(3) The varices recurrence rate of the three types of the treatment group were 30.00%,30.77% and 26.92%, just a slightly higher than 35.00% of the control group, there was no difference between the groups (P>0.05).(4) The average varices recurrence time of the three treatment groups were 17.89 2.15 months,18.50±2.78 months, and 18.29±2.29 months, longer than 14.86± 2.61 months of the control group (P<0.05). There was no difference between the three treatment groups (P>0.05).(5) The re-bleeding rate of the three treatment groups and the control groups were 22.86%,22.33%,24.14% and 25.81%. There was no difference between the groups (P>0.05).(6) The average re-bleeding time of the three treatment groups were 18.88± 1.96months,19.00±2.45months, and 19.57±2.64 months, longer than 15.63±3.16 months of the control group (P<0.05). There was no difference between the three treatment groups (P>0.05).(7) The mortality rate of the treatment group and the control group were 20.45%, 18.92%,17.14% and 20.51%. There was no difference between the treatment groups and the control group (P>0.05).Conclusion(1) The treatment of Traditional Chinese Medicine and EIS can reduce the average number of EIS treatment for severe esophageal varices.(2) Traditional Chinese Medicine and EIS can improve the treatment rate of esophageal varices.(3) Traditional Chinese Medicine and EIS can delay esophageal varices patients’ average varices recurrence time and average average re-bleeding time(4) Traditional Chinese Medicine and EIS has no affection in patients’varices recurrence rate, re-bleeding rate and death rate.
