Objective:To evaluate the effect of atrovastatin on serum uric acid levels, and to provide evidence-based reference for clinical use. Methods:Retrieved from PubMed, EMBase, Medline, Cochrane Library, CNKI, WanFang database, VIP and CBM, RCT about effect of Atrovastatin on serum uric acid levels of patiCardiovascular diseases and Type II diabetes patients were included, and these included RCT were analyzed in quality by evidence-based medicine literature analysis after data extraction. Meta-analysis was performed by using Rev Man 5.2 software. Results:A total of 13 RCT were included, involving 1033 patients. Meta-analysis showed that atrovastatin could decrease serum lipid level and the level of serum uric acid[MD=-40.09,95%CI(-45.58,-34.60),P<0.000].And a total of 5 RCT were included, involving 476 patients, to compare the effects of differences of doses of atrovastatin on serum uric acid. The results of the comparison showed that SUA levels decreased more significantly in ATV20mg/d treated group than ATV10mg/d treated group. A total of 4 RCT were included, involving 397 patients, SUA levels decreased more significantly in ATV40mg/d treated group than ATV20mg/d treated group. Conclusion :Our analysis suggested that atrovastatin can reduce serum lipid and serum uric acid significantly in CVD patients. The effect of atorvastatin on serum lipid and serum uric acid is dose depedent. The result is less robust due to the small number of patients and low quality of studies enrolled. More high quality and large-scale RCT are required for further study.
