Objective: This paper is aimed to explore whether there is a difference in the clinical characteristics between Tibetan and Han T2 DM, to study the clinical characteristics of Tibetan T2 DM, pathological characteristics and the possible influencing factors.Method: The T2 DM clinical data that from the Department of Endocrinology in Qinghai University Affiliated Hospital were compared between Tibetan and Han Chinese hospitalized patients in the same period(2014-2015).Results :Tibetan and Han patients’ no-manual composition ratio is higher. The Tibetan patients in waist circumference, BMI, HbAlc, fasting blood glucose, blood sugar curve under total, LDL, ALT, the WBC and MCHC, PLT, PCT, HOMA- IR clinical indicators are significantly higher than that of the Han nationality, with statistical significance(P < 0.05), but oral steamed buns, 100 g OGTT c-peptide curves of test under reaction area, HDL, propagated, MPV and PDW are significantly lower than the Han nationality, with statistical significance(P < 0.05). The characteristics of Tibetan male performance are more significant. But in the chronic complications and prevalence of metabolic syndrome between Tibetan and Han nationality has no obvious difference. Conclusion Tibetan T2 DM results indicate that higher obesity constitution is an important clinical manifestation, and the degree of insulin resistance is higher than that of Han patients, which may be associated with obesity combined liver damage. Compared with the Han, higher LDL levels of Tibetan patients may be associated with lifestyle. In addition to the above factors, islet cell function decline is also one of the important reasons of the higher levels of blood glucose. Although there are some differences in ethnic characteristics and living altitude between Tibetan and the Han Chinese, prevalence of metabolic syndrome and T2 DM chronic complications is no significant statistical significance, so it prompts their pathological mechanism is likely to be consistent. Accordingly to improve physical activity and diet may be the effective measures of plateau diabetes prevention.
