Objective: hrough the analysis of the clinical data, surgical methods and followup results of 70 cases of elderly patients with vertebral compression fractures, comparing efficacy and safety between PVP and PKP of the treatment of senile vertebral compression fractures. Methods: 70 cases of elderly patients with thoracolumbar vertebral compression fractures that our hospital from January 2014 to May 2015, according to random number table method is divided into PVP group and PKP group holds group 35 cases each.Comparative analysis of two groups of patients with preoperative and postoperative wound vertebral height change, preoperative and postoperative VAS score, the changes of preoperative and postoperative cobb Angle,PMMA leakage rate, and used SPSS19.0 software for analysis. Results:All cases were followed, the average duration was 11.2 months(range 6to 15 months). The two groups of patients in general there is no difference(P > 0.05),two groups of patients has compared, through the software analysis of two groups of patients with preoperative VAS score, preoperative Cobb angle, preoperative vertebral height had no difference(P > 0.05); Postoperative VAS score between the two groups have no difference(P > 0.05), but injured vertebral height of vertebral body after surgery, postoperative cobb Angle and bone cement leakage rate have differences(P <0.05).Conclusion: PVP and PKP are effective in the treatment of senile vertebral compression fractures surgery way, both in terms of ease patients’ pain treatment, but PKP be better than PVP after the recovery of injured vertebral height and kyphosis correction of the spine, and reduce the incidence of leakage of bone cement.
