The Yellow Emperor’s Four Classics And Pre-Qin Huang-Lao Taoism

In1973, the Han tomb MaWangdui unearthed four pieces of Rediscovering Ancient Lost Articles-" Jing Fa "," Shi Da jing ","Cheng" and "Daoyuan". Through research, these articles are designated as "The Yellow Emperor’s Four Classics"-an important work of Huang-Lao Taoism, which has been lost for a long time.With silk books’ discovery,brings the Huang-Lao Taoism of more than2000years to light,fills in the gap of the documents on the Huang-Lao Taoism in pre-Qin, which is of great value and significance for us to know the origin and development of Huang-Lao Taoism, understand the relation about silk book and other philosophy schools.At present, the research on the silk book covers a large area, such as text explanation, title, author, the book finished time, and unscramble about the book’s philosophy, politics, military thought and so on. However, the specific search on the relation between Huang-Lao Taoism and the book is far from enough. By drawing the research achievements of the predecessors,incorporating the time-tested documents and the unearthed bamboo slips and silk information, this paper—The Yellow Emperor’s Four Classics and the pre-Qin Huang-Lao Taoism conducts a deep research on the thought of the silk book-The Yellow Emperor’s Four Classics,and demonstrates its position and influence on the development of Huang-Lao Taoism. Except the introduction and conclusion, this paper can be divided into two parts:Chapter1aims to generalize the previous pre-Qin Huang-Lao Taoism.though overview the pre-Qin Huang-Lao Taoism’s origin, development, features and literature inspect point out the thought source and make a age positioning of The Yellow Emperor’s Four Classics.Chapter2,by discussing the content and thought, reviewing the perspective of Huang-Lao thoughts,and revealing the relationship between the The Yellow Emperor’s Four Classics and Huang-Lao Taoism,establishes the status of The Yellow Emperor’s Four Classics in pre-Qin Huang-Lao Taoism.,Based on The Yellow Emperor’s Four Classics, this article combs the thought from the theory of Tao, the theory of Yin-Yang, Xing Ming thought, war thought and the Emperor’s philosophy etc as combing thoughts, think the silk book as the earliest Huang Lao works," Tao "as the highest category, the law and rule, widely absorbs the thoughts of Confucianism, legalism,compatible with Mohism, Xing Ming, ShuShu,Yin-Yang and five elements, resort" tao" to govern personnel, from different aspects, different shape,explains the theory, actively involved in political reality, opened in the Huang-Lao Taoist’s system about "Emperor’s philosophy ". But through the comparison with other literature,found many theories in silk book is still at the stage of integration,lack of a strict, system discusses, so the silk book should grow in the be the Huang-Lao Taoist’s early,as the masterpiece.The silk book, with natural’s Tao to guid human life, look forward to the political unity,for social management efforts, not only demonstrates the people’s desire to rebuild unified political,when through the chaotic society of Spring-Autumn and Warring States Period,but also established the theoretical basis of Huang-Lao Taoism, points a positive development direction for the Huang-Lao Taoism, promote the Huang-Lao Taoism’s ideas mature gradually.
