On The Urban Writing Of Yishu’s Novels

Yishu romantic novels are known as one of the three popular literary miracles of Hong Kong,and therefore this fantastic appreciation certainly recognizes the status of Yishu’s works. However,in Hong Kong, romantic novelists are numerous, but only Yushu is able to get this recognition.This is because of the fact that his works focus on performances related to the Hong Kong urbanuniqueness, but this content in many studies about Yishu lacks systematic combination andexploration.The paper attempts to cut into the novels urban writing to some extent, analyzingnearly20of the most representative novels of eighties and nineties in the study. The paper gives adetailed description to the basis of Yishu’s "Economic City "," Cultural City", the urban people’sliving conditions; and then explore the uniqueness of the Yishu urban writing, the reason, valueand significance as well as the history of literature. This paper focuses on the following threeaspects,they are as follows:Chapter I: Yishu’s description of urban construction. Yishu works showcase a wide range ofdowntown, fashion views, those specific city streets, companies, white-collar apartments,consumption and recreation places, etc. constitute "economic city" characterized by modernization.Modernity and tradition in Hong Kong coexist to compete, thus causing the city culturallyrootless.Therefore,Yishu firstly discovers all the negative respects of the city state of beingrootless, then excavated from the Hong Kong people’s mannerisms, values and tendencies,discovering the root of the urban Chinese traditional culture, in the hope of the "City of Culture"immediately being constructed and molded.Chapter II: Yishu urban survival conditions. Hong Kong’s modernization started earlier, anddeveloped at an extremely rapid speed, therefore causing city people to enjoy the cosmopolitan,while also people were experiencing the spirit and desire irreconcilable survival predicaments. Thischapter analyzed three aspects: generation, plight of the city people to bear, the breakoutperformance. In the city filled with dynamic, desire and alienation of the city, the state of urbanmen and women with the survival of the young fathers, who are suffered at the spiritual level,theimpact of variability and their notions of love and life attitude made to the plight of activeresistance are all spread at Yishu works.Chapter III: Yishu urban writing’s characteristics, significance and value. First from the freeexercise of the characters, the writing purport flow and open urban space and time and refused tosink to analyze the performance of the features, and then combine with Hong Kong’s social and cultural environment, personal factors, together with the subjective and objective aspects to explorethe reasons for the formation of urban writing. Finally the paper tries to seek the creation of valueand significance from Yishu’s dual construction about beauty and ugliness appreciation.
