Face in the life of people played an important social function,the individual through theprocessing of face stimulus can extract the information of various social, such as age,gender, race, expression, etc. Face expression recognition and identification of whetherthe machining mechanism of separation has been a hot discussion psychology. White facedistinguish between two types of configuration information and feature information, andthus explain the separation between identity expression information: configurationinformation used for identity recognition, and feature information used for face recognition.But such division have limitations. So far, the use of a certain scale to support identity andexpression double the scale of the separation is not much.Previous research has shown that high frequency spatial information tend to the detailsof characterization, such as expression lines, outline of the nose, eyes and mouth. Lowfrequency spatial information does not have separate the resolution of the characterization of acertain organ, but it can provide information for face detection. Because of the highfrequency information sensitive cones are mainly concentrated in the retinal fovea, sensitiveto low frequency information of the rod cells mainly concentrated in the peripheral retina, sospatial frequency and vision location there may be interactions in face recognition.Using the event related potential techniques, this study selected N170as the primaryoutcome measure, respectively, from the face expression recognition and identificationinvestigates the interactions of the spatial frequency and vision location. Experiment arequired subjects to randomly appear in the view of the central or peripheral high frequencyface expressions for judgment, happy to press the left mouse button, anger press the rightmouse button; Experiment2ask participants to determine face identity, celebrity accordingto the left, right click the celebrity. At the same time record the behavior of the subjects andeeg data.The experimental results show that:In experiment1, high-frequency faces in the middle of the field induced N170latencyperiod, shorter than low-frequency faces,amplitude is less than the low frequency face; When peripheral view long incubation period, amplitude and low frequency face differencewas not significant.In experiment2, high-frequency faces in the middle of the field induced N170latencyperiod longer than low-frequency faces, amplitude is greater than the low frequency face,long incubation period in the peripheral vision.The above results show that the spatial frequency and vision location there is interactionon face recognition. At the same time, spatial frequency separation for the separation ofexpression and identity provides a more reliable than configuration information and featureinformation.
