Humor plays an important part in every culture in terms of its social and artistic function and has been an essential flavor in our life and society. It is known to all that humor in different cultural background has its own distinctive topic and ways of expression. Due to the existing cultural, social and political barrier, a lot of English humors make no sense to the Chinese. That is why the translators should pay more attention to the proper translation of humor in this harsh condition of stalemate. This paper is to explore how people violate the cooperative principle to achieve humor effect and to apply the examples from I Am America (And So Can You!) as a case study to analyze the proper translation strategies such as domestication, foreignization and creative translation and so on. Translation methods such as literal translation, liberal translation and the combination of the two methods are applied to present to the readers a relatively good translation work so to provide a reference for people interested in humor translation.
