An Analysis Of Doris Lessing’s Love,Again From Eco-feminism Perspective

As a prolific writer known as the grandmother and evergreen tree of English literature, Doris Lessing has made great contribution to English literature and even world literature with the feature of surprising quantity, variety and impact. The works range from short novel, autobiography, poetry to essay and thesis, she almost creates one new work each year, this amazing writing speed and excellent articles, is a miracle to her because of the role of single mother. The distinctive thinking and humanistic feelings deeply affect her. She pours the concern and thinking about the human society and natural world in her works, the vulnerable groups including the old, the women and the nature become her considering objects and creative writing source.With the development of industry and social progress, the ecological environment is becoming the victim of advanced civilization gradually, the increasing environmental pollution, and ecological crisis set off the alarm bells to the human beings. Women play important role in saving the nature for their intimate relationship with the nature. The female who own the similar characters also become the conquest object, the oppression to women and the nature hinders the achievement of gender equality and ecological harmony society construction. Doris Lessing takes eco-feminism theory in her several works, expresses the worry to ecological environment, panic to mankind survival crisis, and the concern to female social status and realistic situation. In Love, Again, Lessing aims to express her wishes to the harmonious relationship construction of the female and the male, the human beings and the nature after the contradiction and disputes based on the eco-feminism theory.As a burgeoning, ecologism and feminism combined critical theory, eco-feminism criticizes patriarchy values system, advocates ecological civilization, takes active and deep effect in promoting sexual equality and environmental protection. At the same time, it gives a brief introduction to the creative time, background, synopsis of Love, Again. The second chapter focuses on the introduction of development process of eco-feminism theory and research results at home and abroad, and source of Lessing eco-feminism, formation and development. Through in-depth analysis to development process of the theory, it shed new light on the theoretical and practical significance.The third chapter is the core part of the thesis which makes a probing analysis of the cause of the contradiction and the source of inequality through three series contradiction and contradictory relationship among human and modern civilization represented by Julie, the female and the male presented several times in the novel, the young girl and the aging women in Love, Again. Although the pattern of presentation and the oppressed degree is different, they all suffer the oppression of anthropocentrism and patriarchy, the neglect to the vulnerable groups.The fourth chapter plays an important role as the third chapter, bases on the found of unharmonious relationship, looks for the method to break up this condition, finally realizes the harmonious construction of the relationship between the mankind and the nature, the equality and respect between the women and men by changing anthropocentrism back to the nature; subverting men’s control position, further overturning patriarchy domination.The fifth chapter is the conclusion part which makes conclusion to the full thesis, makes brief description of main points, research method and result, appeals to much attention to the female and the nature, and realizes the good wishes of gender equality and harmony of mankind and the nature.The more than half a century writing, the works with her personal beliefs and humanistic feelings of mankind destiny draw attention from scholars all over the world, although she already dead, her works are valuable assets to all the mankind.
