Logic has three origins, Greek logic, i.e. Aristotelian syllogismwhich widely circulated, ancient Chinese logic and argumentology andIndian Hetuvidya. Hetuvidya had been introduced into China for morethan1500years. It developed very hard and zigzag. Although Buddhismflourished in the Northern and Southern Dynasties, Hetuvidya was at itsbeginning to spread, just like a poem as "Hibiscus is born at river bank inAutumn, but it does not blame the east wind for not blooming", it did nothave much impact on ideology. At the beginning of Tang Dynasty,Xuanzang introduced and interpreted new Hetuvidya, it began to sparkripples in the thought circle. Unfortunately, Hetuvidya declinedsubsequently as Dharmalaksana faded away, and almost became to vanishby Ming Dynasty. Hetuvidya study was to recover for a time as thediscovery of the books on Hetuvidya which was shelved for a long timeand reviving study on Theory of Consciousness-only of Dharmalaksana, however the study went to end again by1950-1960s. Until the70s of lastcentury, Hetuvidya study began to receive attention again, the scholarscalled for the rescue of this lost knowledge. Trairupya is the mostsignificant and also controversial in the study no matter in Tang Dynastyor in modern time. This thesis will start from the origins of Trairupya, comprehensively analyzing the development of Trairupya via its Tibetanand Han Dynasty’s Hetuvidya, as well as analyzing the nature ofTrairupya via Hetucakra and three part syllogism, finally investigating therevelation of Trairupya and the logic application of nowadays. The first part as overview describes the origin of Trairupya andintroduces the historical development of Trairupya via Tibetan and HanDynasty’s Hetuvidya, includes the development process of evolution fromancient Hetuvidya to new Hetuvidya in India, also includes thedevelopment in Tibet and Mongolia after introducing into Tibet, as wellas the development of the introduced Trairupya in the area where Hannationality resided. The second part is to study the nature of Trairupya viaHetucakra and three part syllogism. The third part is to investigate therelationship between Trairupya and pragmatics, and the role whichTrairupya plays in court debate.
