Renaissance inspired the whole western society to put emphasis on the literature andart, which created a golden era in the west. Followed by a number of cultural industries,sponsorship increased, especially the emergency of many famous Italian familysponsorship. In this patriarchal society, the few female patrons equally had a remarkableinfluence on the development of literature and art. The female patrons influenced byhumanism gradually, were directly involved in the society and culture activities in smallgroups or individuals, and became a symbol of social civilization and progress of theRenaissance. Although their sponsorship purposes were different, the space for selfdevelopment also had some limitations. With sponsorship women could get relativelyindependent status in the cultural field, and support the development of culture, andpromote the Renaissance moment forward.This paper mainly focused on female patrons, taking specific historical figures andthings as examples and using a variety of methods of history, sociology, etc. This paperconducted research on the phenomenon of female patrons on the basis of historicalmaterials,explored the women patrons of the Renaissance in the social developmentsituation,and through a detail carding of the development and trend of the sponsorshipphenomenon,highlighted the female patrons’ status and contribution of the Renaissance.The thesis is divided into three chapters. The first chapter aims at the generation anddevelopment of the sponsorship phenomenon.The second chapter systematically analyzesthe behavior of female patron sponsorship and activities.The third chapter describes therelationship between women patron and the Renaissance, and the influence of the femalepatrons on the culture of the enlightenment and the limitations of female patron’s rights,which affirms the value and status of female patrons in the Renaissance.
