Based on cultural context theory of Malinoski,this paper analyzes authenticmaterials of Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman answering to reporters’ requests in2013and integrates theory with practice with qualitative analysis method, and alsoexplores face threatening pragmatic strategy of three micro-level, i.e., words,sentences and discourse from the linguistic level. Foreign and domestic scholars moreadopt corresponding theories such as the adaptation theory, cross culturecommunication theory and semantics for analysis, but few of them analyze facethreatening strategy from cultural context. The research object of this paper is a brandnew research fields, which refines face threatening strategy and perfects pragmaticfunction. This paper studies the pragmatic strategy of language adopted by ChineseForeign Ministry spokesman answering to reporters’ requests in regular pressconferences. Based on257performance involving American issues in ChineseForeign Ministry regular press conferences, analyzes pragmatic strategy of spokesmanunder cultural context theory and politeness principle, and then gets the analysis resultstatistically and the conclusion.The results show that through restriction of cultural context factors, implicitmitigated FTA is produced in journalism discourse, to meet interactive actualrequirements to reach a satisfied communicative effect. However, when the questionsinvolve the contents of diminishing Chinese national interests including interventionof domestic affairs and distortion of fact, spokesman has to adopt face threateningstrategy to safeguard national interests. Due to the particularity of diplomaticlanguage, on the premise of combining cultural context theory, spokesman combinesthe cultural context, historic cultural tradition and thought pattern of the other nationto get a recessive moderate face threatening pragmatic strategy to reduce the facethreatening to the other to the smallest extent and alleviate communication barriersbrought by cultural conflict. It is provide new pragmatic strategy for communicationin real effect of real journalism discourse, which have positive practical significanceand practical value.
