Angela Carter (1940-1992), as one of the most popular British contemporary womenwriters in the20th century, she works as a reporter, novelist, playwright, critic, her creationsinvolves magic realism, absurdist, gothic, feminism and post-modernism, her unique writingstyle is regarded as the most innovative and memorable contemporary writers in Britain.Female theme runs through Angela Carter’s lifetime creations, she focused on the femaleencounter and fate, forthrightly deep into the field with which depth the other female authornever dare to reach, she talks about incest boldly and frankly, sexual abuse, pornography andother topics. According to Angela Carter, the female body and desire are the topics thatfeminism writing and research cannot ignore. By analyzing several Carter s works, this thesisfocus on the interpretation of women as the power of subversive established value system, andthe guiding function as the new order builder, beyond questioning and deconstructingpatriarchal values, women writing beneficial thinking of building harmonious genderrelationship.This thesis consists of three parts: introduction, main body and conclusion. Theintroduction introduces Angela Carter’s life and literature creation briefly, as well as studystatus of domestic and foreign researchers of her work, and clarifies the subject value andresearch value of this thesis. The main body is divided into three chapters on the structure: thefirst chapter set rewrite the fairy tale as entry point, pointed out that through Carter sreconstruction of the polarization of women image in authoritative text, she actively explorethe self-rescue possibility of the female subject in existing power relations. The secondchapter continues to study "Demythologizing" creative approach of Carter, to dig the guiderrole which women played in gender relations for the salvation and liberation of men. Thethird chapter takes Carter last three novels as analytical object, which is the emphasis of thisthesis. According to text reading, this thesis point out that after challenging patriarchaldiscourse center and subverting patriarchal myth, the author trying to find and build women’sunique discourse power, namely to establish a Alien Land in the novel which is no genderdictatorship, bisexual understand and love, family filled with laughter and love. Theconclusion starts from the influence of Carter that take to British contemporary femininitywriting, it expounds Carter s feminine writing condensates "The Other" and the differencesconcern, in the definition of deconstruction of the myth of the patriarchal nature of women,making a sound for the majority of female who has long been deprived of male writers, andcontinuously restore the true lives of women which were obscured. Her female view is also adiachronic and changing process, which lasted from the bisexual fight to the pursuit of genderindependence and equality, until finally combined love with the warmth of family. Carter sartistic expression is full of creativity and imagination, making her novel presents aestheticstyle with gorgeous and extremely wild.
