Based on the Model of Learner Autonomy Theory designed by the famousAmerican researcher Zimmerman, this thesis formulated a questionnaire to investigatethe current status of primary Chinese learner autonomy in light of the three stages------study planning stage, behavior and will controlling stage and self-reflectionstage------in Kyrgyzstan. The result of this research showed that most students did well in self-observationand self-reaction, but poorly in making study plans, choosing learning strategies andself-evaluating. It also found that gender difference and family backgroundsdifference did produce some effect on learner capability in learning autonomy. In light of the strengths and weaknesses of learning autonomy found inelementary Chinese learners, this study put forward suggestions for teachers andlearners themselves to develop the autonomous learning ability in Chinese learning. This study hoped to help Chinese teachers guide their international students todevelop favorable Chinese learning attitude and habits, and to be conducive toimproving the efficiency of Chinese teaching and cultivating autonomous learningability in international student in learning Chinese.
