A Study Of Contemporary Chinese Language Contrast Category

Contrast is a major human cognitive way of the world, and it has been mapped inthe expression level of human language.So it has become an important semanticassociation category in the areas of language. According to the previous studies, thesurface level of language exists many complex semantic structures, and some semanticcategories which have similar cognitive basis often share the same language expressionwhen they mapping on the surface level of language. Above all, contrast relationship isone which is more abstract and vague, what more, the relationship between contrastrelationship and many neighboring semantic association category is very complex. Dueto the variety of reasons which is above, it has led us unconsciously ignore the study ofcontrast category in the contemporary Chinese semantic category study. Most areas ofthe contrast category study fragmented seen as a small part of the research literature onthe various areas of semantic research areas. Therefore, the study of contemporaryChinese language contrast category is lack of overall systematic research and somerelated questions have yet to be explained in depth.Basing on a combination of previous studies and using some relevant linguistictheories, this paper firstly make a more detailed definition of contemporary Chineselanguage contrast category. And combining with relevant corpus and the results ofcontrast category’s prototype survey, this paper determines the typical form andatypical form of contemporary Chinese contrast category. And in order to determinewhether contemporary Chinese contrast category exists mark words, this paper alsoexamine its external grammatical forms. Secondly, according to different classificationcriteria, this paper makes a fully classification of contemporary Chinese contrastcategory. And also clarifies the main features of contemporary Chinese contrastcategory, thus we can establish an overall system of contemporary Chinese contrastcategory. Thirdly, this paper clarifies the difference between contrast category andother neighboring semantic categories such as comparative category, conflict categoryand turning category by combining previous studies. Finally, this paper discuss twoquestions of contrast category rhetoric. This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is the introduction, itmainly discusses the theoretical background, scope, principles, methods and corpussources of this study. The second chapter mainly discuss the definition of contemporaryChinese contrast study and describes its semantic features and typical forms.According to different classification criteria, the third chapter makes a fullyclassification of contemporary Chinese contrast study. To clearly study contemporaryChinese contrast study, the forth chapter clarifies the difference between contrastcategory and other neighboring semantic categories by combining previous studies.The firth chapter is the study of contrast category rhetoric. The sixth chapter summariesthe whole paper and points out the chief deficiencies. Contrast is one major way ofhuman cognitive of the world and is also mapping on the surface level of language. Inprevious studies, the comprehensive study of contemporary Chinese contras categoryare rare which is also the innovation of this paper.
