From1811when Yucai Cheng became a presented scholar to1859when HuancaiCheng died, The Cheng’s family in Wang Shan Tu Ku went from prosperity to decline.The Cheng’s family made a difference by taking traditional imperial examinations. Ithas three Provincial Governors. Because of that, the Wang Shan Tu ku came intoexistence. At that time, there were great interactions between the old China’s societyand the Cheng’s family. Their relationships can hardly be ignored and produced marksin China’s history. This is worthy of being looked into further. It happened for someprofound reasons that the Cheng in Wan Shan Tu Ku developed from a commonfamily of peasants to a family of scholars. This is mainly because of the Cheng’sinternal family management and the external society of the Qing Dynasty. Theinteractive research about the relationship between the Cheng and the China’s Societycan be made in vertical and horizontal ways. Vertically, it can be divided into thecentral and local governments. Horizontally, it can be divided into political, economic,cultural, military and social aspects. The interaction between Cheng’s and China’ssociety mainly depends on the political developments of the Cheng’s three brothers.Yucai Cheng had unsmooth journey. Huancai Cheng was distracted from politics. AndMaocai Cheng failed his political dreams. These three brothers were the key of theCheng’s family and they were also important representatives of the Jiangxi scholars inChinese central government. The interaction between the Cheng’s family and the localgovernment relied on the interrelationship between the family with China’s centralgovernment. The reaction developed and realized based on its practice in the Xin Jiancountry. The family is the cell of the society. The developments of China’s traditionalculture, regional politics and Chinese families are testifying this. Going through thehistorical turning point, the1840, the Cheng’s family witnessed the development ofChina’s society.
