The Realism Oil Painting’s "Reality" Problem Of The New China During The "Seventeen Years"

Realism art’s goal is "on the basis of the strict observation of contemporary life, to represent the real world really, objectively and fairly ". At the beginning,"reality" which is at the heart of realism is the theory problem, and is the vitality of realism. Realism art pursuits the "reality" makes people look to the mundane daily things for the first time, and also makes the human art which has experienced thousands of years’ideals and hopes return to the nature and life steadily in the19th century. Differences between realism and other literature trends of thought can be expressed as different understanding of "reality", while distortion and misunderstanding of "reality" will obliterate the vitality of realism.The pursuit of "reality" made the realism art which was in the middle of the nineteenth century glorious and had a profound effect on the realistic art between the Soviet Union and China. Due to the comprehensive influence of political factors, the new Chinese "seventeen years" period(1949-1966) brought in the socialist realism art theory from the Soviet Union, and made it the highest standard of the art creation in that period. Though the oil painting which was guided by this principle inherited the realism technique of expression, its meaning and nature has been transformed. It demonstrated the political tendentiousness and strong utilitarian in the process of the pursuit of "reality". The task of art lies in praising the party’s revolutionary struggle results as well as the national construction achievements in the idealized image, arousing the enthusiasm of the masses and encouraging them to dedicate themselves to the construction of the new China. In fact, the transformation of the artist in this period emphasized the popularization of art and propaganda effect excessively, immobilized the aesthetic mode, and made the oil paintings which met the situation, had a single theme and false content appeared in large numbers. It is precisely the violation of realistic "reality" pursuit and eventually will lead to the loss of vitality of realism.The final result of art creation is the state of the art works. If you want to analyze art phenomenon of a period, you’d better return to practice and works. The intention of this paper is to analyze the writing practice of realism oil painting of "seventeen years" period in the form of realism analyzing "reality". This paper will reflect the oil paintings of this period in three ways.They include the influence which a country exerts on the painter, creation of revolutionary history paintings as the main form of expression and the creation of the means of conveyance etc. It will clearly speak the deconstruct of realism "reality" in the artistic practice so as to enable us to compare the popular realistic terms,identify realism art from the "reality" point of view and guide our oil paintings.
