As an indisputable fact, globalization affects the pattern of global cultural ecological environment. Global cooperation and regional integration become international mainstream trends. Against this background, several major languages have gone beyond the country level, leading to the formation of transnational " language communities ". Adhering to the "language community" range of national language, attracting potential language learning communities, and enhancing the position of national language in international institutions, regional political and economic associations, as well as other political units, have become significant interest pursuits of world major powers. In recent years, Chinese culture communication has risen to a national strategic level. Relevant theoretical exploration and policy research are flourishing and still in the ascendant. In the perspective of cultural practices, the Confucius Institute/Classroom, as key representatives of emerging cultural communication institutions have developed rapidly. Apart from the government and market, Non-governmental Organizations (NGOs) originate in the civil society and have basic features as follows:organized, civil, non-profitable, autonomous, voluntary and public welfare, etc. As a result, NGOs play a pivotal role in the cultural, educational, charitable and other social areas. Confronted with the world-sweeping "Chinese Cultural Fever ", we should pay due attention to the research of function and value of NGOs in the Chinese culture communication. Choosing Thailand as an empirical case study is due to several following reasons:the political and economic importance of ASEAN region, historical origins of geographic proximity and intimate kinship between China and Thailand, the case study value of Chinese cultural communication model in Thailand, the demonstration value of Chinese community in Thailand, and personal Chinese-teaching experience in this country.Based on the combination of historical compilation and synchronic analysis of Chinese Culture Communication NGOs in Thailand, this thesis attempts to describe inherent characteristics, relationships network and development trends of these NGOs, aiming to provide some referential significance for the promotion of Chinese cultural communication in the future. This thesis is divided into five chapters:Chapter1, as an introduction, describes the topic-choosing purpose, research content and research methodology; defines several groups of relevant concepts; unfolds relevant literature review in three research aspects:from Chinese policy system to Chinese education practice, the ethnic history of Chinese in Thailand, and cultural communication between China and Thailand.Chapter2firstly explores the background of Chinese culture communication in Thailand, then probes into several evolution stages of Chinese community in Thailand as well as Chinese policy of the Thai government. This chapter finally discusses main features of contemporary Chinese community in Thailand.Chapter3is the main body of this research. This chapter firstly sorts out the relationship network of Chinese Culture Communication NGOs in Thailand, which with Chinese Associations as their backbones. Then this chapter distinguishes three basic characteristics of the relationship network:explicit, implicit and neutral ones. Based on this, this part selects Chinese temple, Natives organization, clan organizations, Chinese school, Confucius Institute/classroom as cases to conduct a more detailed analysis.Chapter4brings some thinking and enlightenment to this research, including internal optimization of NGOs, cooperative complementation of NGOs and governmental organizations, etc.Chapter5is a conclusion to summarize the innovation and limitation of this research.
