Morality has been treated increasingly important in in-group evaluation recently by researchers. One of the purposes of this research is to test whether morality is the most important in-group positive evaluation in Chinese society via a series studies. And another purpose is to find the characteristics of in-group evaluation, including morality, competence and sociability, in nature and comparison context.Participants were asked directly in study1and study2whether morality, competence and sociability are important for in-group evaluation. Bothe study1and study2showed the mean score of morality is significant higher than competence or sociability. The confirmatory factor analysis of study2showed the three-factor-model of hypothesis fit the observed data poor, but the adjusted-three-factor-model fit the data better. The reason of this result may due to the different meaning of traits that used for describing morality and sociability under the social context in China.Experimental manipulations of different variance, that is, morality, competence and sociability, through providing participants fictive reports by authority in study3and study4, observed the difference of in-group and out-group evaluation by participants in different conditions. The result of study3showed morality is the most important in-group evaluation among three factors, but little important for out-group evaluation. Study4showed morality is the only factor can affect group identity and sense of in-group shame, but group identity can affect both morality and competence in in-group evaluation.
