In the19th century, British women’s status in their families could bereflected through the domestic violence they suffered. Due to family financialconstraints on marriage; a revolt against domestic violence from wives to their husbands;asylum and even encouragement from traditional views and related laws on domesticviolence, resulting in women being subjected to physical, mental and economic harmand suppression. The situation, however, has been bound by British socialtransformation and development, legal adjustments which have played a role in theimprovement of the status of British women.
