The Research Of Liu Xianxin’s Novel Concept

Liu Xianxin is an important scholar in Bashu area during the late qingand republican periods. He was a prolific writer, and his works relates to all aspects ofconfucian classics, history, philosophy and literature. This paper will study LiuXianxin’s novel concept, and it mainly includes three chapters. The first chapter is “Thenovel definition and The source of novel definition”, teasing mainly novel definitionfrom the definition of “small”,”speak”,”home” and the difference between novel andhistorians. Researching Liu Xianxin’s views on the novel of Hanshu Yiwenzhi, andthrough comparison with the same period of scholars lastly, summarizing thecharacteristics of Liu Xianxin’s novel definition. The second chapter is “Liu Xianxin’sdiscussion about the change of gains and losses of historians’ novel recording”.Connecting the novel definition and his view on the historians’ novel recording, Fromthree aspects of “The correctness and incorrectness of Sui Shu Jing Ji Zhi”,”The mingleof Non-fiction”,“The decline of real novel”, teasing Liu Xianxin’s concept of Novelbibliography. The third chapter is “The cause of Liu Xianxin’s novel concept”. This partmainly write the influence of Times and Academic sources to Liu Xianxin’s novelconcept. Generally speaking, Liu Xianxin’s noevl concept have distinctive features.
