Sensory Integration Disorder (SID) is referred to as a "disease of the times" which is caused by the unhealthy modern life pattern. Children with SID often can not organize sensory information effectively, and caused tactile disorder, proprioceptive disorders, vestibular dysfunction, language barriers, visual-spatial and auditory disorders. These disorders had impact on health development of children, and would cause lasting and extensive bad effects. If SID children were not be treated in time, they would have probably had behavior problems, emotion disorders, learning difficulties and interpersonal barriers to some extent. The Sensory Integration Training (SIT) could effectively improve the situation of SID children, help them restoring to a better developing state. This research discussed the effects of the Sensory Integration Training to the behaviors of SID children from the perspective of developmental psychology. This paper consists of7parts.The first part mainly introduced the background, purpose and value of this research, and the researching history and present situation of Sensory Integration Training. The second part mainly introduced the conceptions, the theory basis and development of Sensory Integration, then introduced the reasons, symptoms and bad effects of SID, finally introduced the methods and theories of SIT.The third part introduced the subjects and methods of the experiment in this research. The fourth part analyzed all the data of the children in this experiment of this research by SPSS18.0.The fifth part argued the effects of the Sensory Integration Training to the behaviors of SID children carefully. The sixth part elaborated the conclusions of this research, pointed out this research’s deficiencies and made some suggestions. There were42children as subjects in this research, most of them came from Beijing city, the rest is from other cities. This research mainly used the Children’s Sensory Integration Rating Scale and Conners Children’s Behavior Questionnaire to filter subject, and used document analysis, interview, data analysis. This research argued the situation of the SID children first, then made statistical analysis of the relevance of the sensory integration abilities and behavior factors, and finally discussed the effectiveness of Sensory Integration Training. In the42children of the research were28children of severe vestibular imbalance, 28of severe tactile defensiveness,16of severe proprioception disorders, and19of severe learning disorders. The data analysis showed no significant difference in gender(P>0.05). The scores of vestibular, tactile defensiveness, proprioception and learning ability were significantly improved after training. And there were significant differences of the scores of vestibular, tactile defensiveness, proprioception and learning ability before and after training (P<0.01)This research proved that there were some certain extent negative correlations between the sensory integration abilities and the behavior factors. The correlation of vestibular function and mind disorders is-0.335, vestibular function and hyperkinetic index is-0.323, tactile defensiveness and learning problems is-0.355, and learning problems and hyperkinetic index is-0.509. Those four have significant correlations. So we can say that the lower the sensory integration ability is, the higher the behavior factor score one got. This research had following conclusions:First, the vestibular function, tactile ability, and proprioception and behavior problems of all the children with SID and behavior problems had improved after the SIT. Behavior problems also significantly improved. All of these proved the effectiveness of SIT to the children with SID.Second, the data analysis showed that there is no significant difference in gender of children with SID.Third, there are some certain negative correlations between the sensory integration abilities and behavior factors. The lower the scores of sensory integration abilities is, the higher the scores of the behavior factors will be. This suggested that children with SID would be easier to have behavior problems. The children with SID should receive SIT as early as possible.
