Contrastive Study On Universal Address Terms In Korean And Chinese

In the modern society, with the development of the economy, the socialization between people and people have become more and more deep, and the communication between no n-relatives members has become more and more frequently. In order to achieve smooth co mmunication, choosing appropriate address terms becomes more and more important.The universal address terms refer to the general terms which are used to address any m ember of all social ranks regardless the occupation and posts, even the ages. It’s widely us ed when communicate with others. The characteristics of this kind of address terms is sma11number but frequently used.Study of address terms in Korea and China has made great achievements, but mainly f ocused on the kinship address terms and social address terms’analysis. A separate study of the universal address terms is insufficient; the contrast research on the universal address t erms in Korean and Chinese is vacant.In Korea and China, due to the influence of traditional culture and historical factors, th ere is no one particular and completely trial of address terms in any occasion. Its type, mai nly according to its generation is divided into kinship address terms of generalization and social address terms generalization two parts.This thesis mainly from the two aspects to carry on the contrast research on the univers al address terms in Korean and Chinese. First clear the kinship address terms and social a ddress terms generalized into universal ddress terms’ conditions, and thus the research sco pe is determined. After universal address terms in Korean and Chinese were described res pectively, this paper will analyses universal address terms’ form of performance in actual u se. Finally, is the comparative analysis between Korean universal address terms and Chine se universal address terms. In addition, in the last chapter of this article, the several group s of universal address terms whose concept meaning are corresponding and easily confuse d, are also analyzed.Hope that through this article comparative analysis of China and South Korea, learners can form more clear understanding to the universal address terms, and can use them corre ctly in real life.
