World population has amounted to7.05billion today, which includes various kinds ofethnicity and race. With the rapid global development, the world population and humanstructure are changing to a new trend, therefore, the issue of human ethnicity and race isbecoming one of the hot topics of the world.This translation is excerpted from Ethnicity and Race, illustrating the relations anddifferences of ethnicity and race from the perspective of the sociology.The report includes4parts: task introduction, preparation, difficulties and techniques and conclusion. The thirdpart is the key part, including some major difficulties during the translation and thetechniques for them with some examples. Aiming to provide some useful translation skillsfor the informative text, the report uses the Skopos Theory through translation process.Either for sociology textbook or for public reading, this book is a good helper forpublic and students to deepen their understandings in ethnicity and race. Furthermore, it isa best reference source for the sociology majors in particular. As a MTI student, translatingthis book, on the one hand, helped me to improve my translating skills, on the other, due toits professional knowledge such as sociology, world history, geology, my view has beenwidely broadened through translating this book.
