| Tang Poetry is a brilliant gem and treasure of Chinese culture and is one of the precious cultural heritages. Tang Poetry occupies an extremely important position in the cultural history of China and the world. Many people in translation circles have already made a lot of achievements on the translation of Tang Poetry, but few of them have mentioned the emotional imagery and its translation of Tang Poetry.In1996, Toward A Theory of Cultural Linguistics, created by Gary B. Palmer has been published. Palmer combined Boasian linguistics, Ethnography of speaking and Ethno semantics with cognitive linguistics to build up a theory with stronger explanatory power on language phenomena, that is, cultural linguistics. From the perspective of Palmer’s culture linguistics, this thesis is based on its imagery theory to explain the relationship of culture, language and imagery and analyze and research in the transference of imagery and the emotions expressed through emotional imagery in the course of translation.This thesis has made a classification on expressed emotions in Tang Poetry and tries to understand the feelings and emotions of poets by capturing the images. Emotions can be divided into three kinds with the most attention given in present society, those are, familial affection, friendship and love. The objective of this thesis is to understand how to express these three emotions through the translation of images in Tang poetry.Interpretation of the emotional imagery in Tang poetry is the key to aesthetic. In order to transfer the images of original poetry, the translator must understand the cultural direction of emotional imagery and grasp the aesthetic style of the poets. Follow the principles and strategies of semantic equivalence and aesthetic equivalence to help the reader to understand the original poetry and recognize the source language, to convey a true aesthetic experience, and then achieve the purpose of cultural transmission and communication. |
