Study On The God Of Whitehead’s Process Theology

The God of Whitehead’s process theology has a creative value about broadening the transformation of theology. At the same time, its duality of God and the doctrine of Eros show us a wonderful vision, we could feel the world quitely and share our experience of life at each moment. Then it inspires us more passion for life, more attention about the natural ecology.Based on the principle of historical development and logical vein is consistent, according to Whitehead’s God concept development, we analysis and defend the God of Whitehead’s process theology. There are three periods about Whitehead’s God concept development.Firstly,the build of God,which from 《Science and the Modern World》 to《Process and Reality".Secondly》,it is a criticism about traditional vision of God. Thirdly,the clarify about the God’s essence. Each stage enriches the vision of God at different levels. Although, we can not ignored the fact,it not always as consistent as we like. In terms of the separate from God and creativity,lies in the text 《Process and Reality》. Still,it is really means a fatal flaw? Does it demage the reconstruction aspect of Whitehead’s theological philosophy? This paper focusing on the explore of the Whitehead’s work. In tention to respond the challenge from Neville and then present a reasonable defense.This article takes three parts to interpretate and defend for the God of Whitehead’s process theology:The first part discusses the formation stage about the God of Whitehead’s process theology. From its initial conception of God, and then expand its critique of the traditional concept of God.After these, to clarify its view of God after the pioneering spirit. The second part of the paper is defend for Whitehead’s vision of God and respond to the challenge from Neville, it is a natural extension of the first part of this article. First defense, respond to God and the creative separation problems from the basic elements of speculative system. At this step, its promote inspiration based on the interpretation of "Process and Reality", and never neglect to seek interpretation of the relevant sections of the suggestive "concept of adventure",add to other earlier Whitehead’s writings. Second defense, around the interactive process between the God and the world, Neville make the challenge about Whitehead’s vision of God.In this part, I combine the text of Whitehead and Neville,to analysis and clarify the challenge from Neville to Whitehead, which insight is justice, which is not fair enough.The third part is to make evaluation to Whitehead’s vision of God. In this part,through interpretating and defending the first two parts, and then returning to influence and significance of Whitehead’s vision of God. Firstly, it reveals the influence and significance of the process theology, mainly evaluating through the tradition process theology and the dialogue between Confucianism and Christianity. Secondly, according to our current real-life experience to explore the enlightenment and value significance. For examples, advocating process relationships think; advocating ecological economic; advocating harmonious beauty of Eros.
