| Based on three representative works:" The Ballad of Narayama "," The Eel " and "Warm Water Under The Red Bridge " directed by a famous Japanese director ShoheiImamura who has won twice Golden Lion Award in the Cannes Film Festival, thispaper is to study the "black qualities" in these films, by using case studies andliterature research, etc. Moreover the author tries to explore "rural folk" and“humanity" in Shohei Imamura’s films. In this paper, the author focuses on the uniquepoint of view of Shohei Imamura’s film trying to explore the features of his works andthinks deeply about the "uniqueness",“cruelty ",“rural folk" and“experimentalâ€,combining with other scholars’ view about Shohei Imamura and hisfilms to draw a conclusion which is relatively innovative. That is: Shohei Imamuraexpressed his understanding of "human nature" from the films directed by himself,with his own strong controversial views, which shocks the audience and creates theirdesire on the "human†nature. In fact, the greatest contribution of Shohei Imamura liesin that he didn’t give us the answer to the question that what human nature is. On thecontrary he aroused a heated discussion about human nature using a relatively radicalapproach.The study associated with this paper gives the author an opportunity to have a betterunderstanding of the narrative style and expressive images of Japanese films, whichaccumulates some cases for further creation. To a certain extent, the discussion abouthuman nature has expanded author’s thinking ability of creative design. |
