This is a translation task for the partial translation (Some Notes on Translation Poetry to The Dilemma of Dialect) of Literary Translation:A Practical Guide. Its author is Clifford E. Land, a famous American translator, who translated15novels and lots of short stories. He was also awarded the Makoo Ferreira Prize for Translation respectively in1999and2004. In this book, Landers shares his successful experience and translation process, especially for the newbie of translation.The translator tries to apply Verschueren’s Adaptation Theory into her practice, which is combined with what the author analyzes, thinks about and summarizes the problems and shortcomings during the translation process.This report consists of four chapters:Chapter One describes the translation task, consisting of background of the translation task, requirements for the translation, purpose of translation task and features of the text. Chapter Two introduces the process of the translation of Literary Translation:A Practical Guide, which consisting of preparations before translation, difficulties in the translation, methods and strategies applied in the translation, and proofreading after translation. Chapter Three presents the case study:Translation of Literary Translation:A Practical Guide---From the Perspective of Adaptation Theory, which including introduction of adaptation theory, significance of Adaptation Theory to translation, and translation of Literary Translation:A Practical Guide---Under the Guidance of Adaptation Theory. Chapter Four is the enlightenment from translation of Literary Translation:A Practical Guide, which including qualification of translator, experience gained from the translation, and unsolved problems after the translation.
