China is a big country of education, besides a large agricultural country. Andswitch to a powerful educational country increasingly. The rural education weighsheavily on China’s education. As we are known, the foundation is most important.The primary school is the basic stage of education and important period of forminggood learning habits. But also it is the period of laying a foundation for one’s growingup. So the primary education is very vital. In the English education of primary schools,English vocabulary teaching is an important part. During English vocabularyclassroom instruction, using appropriate ways to present vocabulary can increasepupils’ learning interest and give pupils deeper impression. Therefore, pupils willlearn more quickly and effectively and the learning effect must be better.Due to the importance of vocabulary, there have been a great many of studiesabout the issue of English vocabulary. However, most of studies focus on methodsand principles of English vocabulary teaching, vocabulary learning strategies etc.Studies on English vocabulary presentation modes are deeply needed, particularly inthe primary school. There are plenty of problems in rural education. However, few ofresearchers study rural schools. So it is significant to study the English vocabularypresentation modes in the primary schools of rural areas.This study takes eight teachers and four hundred students of RongchengPrimary School as the subjects. Through teaching recording, interviewing teachers,analyzing teaching plans and classroom observation, the study mainly focuses on thestatus quo of the usage of English vocabulary presentation modes and the problemsthat occur in the process of using English vocabulary presentation modes in ruralprimary schools.Through a period of study, some data are collected. The study finds that theperception presentation mode is the most widely used mode in the instruction of therural primary school. The description presentation mode and game presentation modeare used less in the class. Due to the different grades and different word classes, teachers will choose different English vocabulary presentation modes. What’s more,there is a difference between the choice of teachers and pupils by investigating.Actually, there are a great many problems on the use of the three English vocabularypresentation modes. Then the author analyzes the possible influential factors andhopes these suggestions can be helpful to solve the problems.
