The Structure Of X De Shi And The Source Of Confirmation Tone Of De

This paper tests the "X de shi" structure, from CCL, including the"X de shi" institutions according to the different kinds of the "X" in thedistribution of each dynasty, the concrete analysis of the structure ofseveral special "X de shi", as well as the structure of "de" that are usedalone. Overall speaking, this paper addresses the "X de shi" structure hadgone thru rapid development since Yuan dynasty. After the Ming andQing till present, although some structures gradually withdrew from thehistory, the "X de shi" structure remained its powerful vitality till present.Among them,"you de shi" as a special structure of "X de shi" in ancientChinese could produce five different sentence patterns, is indeed a typicalrepresentative of the lexicalization of "X de shi" structure. In addition, the"de shi" alone-structure becomes the author’s bold assumptions, a largenumber of "de shi" alone-structure generally used as confirmation of tone,coupled with the flexibility of its position in the sentence, especially theuse of line, the author assumes boldly that the word "de" as confirmationtone originated from "de shi" structure.In view of this, the author tabulates the word "de" in differentdynasties, combined with the grammaticalization theory of back analysis and so on, to show the grammaticalization process of the word "de" itself,analyzes the reason of its update phenomenon and mechanism. This paperargues that, because of the influence of population, structure and analogystrength, the "modifier+di+center" structure have appeared in theChinese language, at the same time, the novelty dynamics of updatephenomenon makes the word "de" replace the position of the particle "di",being the particle in the attributive structure. In addition, this paper alsoaddresses some other factors such as voice similarities, semanticassociations also contribute to the replacement.Finally, considering the discussion of grammaticalization of "de shi"and "de", the paper concludes and proves the confirmation tone of "de"originated from "de shi" structure supported with the relevant data.
