In composition of orchestral music, it is always a significant problem needing composers’ conscientious consideration to create decent music structure. When orchestrating, composers may meet the work of diverse styles and musical languages; however, the music structure is the important pillar of work, which makes the structural processing of music critical for whether it can precisely express the composers’ original intention. The author finds after reviewing current literatures that there is lack of investigation with pertinence and systematization on all kinds of structural processing of music in creating orchestral music. The author analyzes and discusses some problems in structural processing of music(classification and use of core material; structural processing of phrase and the problems of vertically and horizontally structural processing of harmony) in creating orchestral music through summarizing and concluding precious theories and experiences in creating orchestral music of predecessors, based upon my own experience of learning orchestration, hoping to provide a kind of reference to learners of orchestration.
