Ancient jade is the important relics and cultural carrier in China. The birth of it was separated from stone, under the influence of the human’s original interest in aesthetics. Then it has always been a beautiful artwork, still loved and pursued by all of us in the present. Jade Bi is one kind of Chinese ancient jade, used from Neolithic Age to Qing Dynasty. Qin and Han dynasties are the flourishing periods of its development which has never been cut off. The characteristics of Jade Bi have more imitation after the Han dynasty. The introduction is about the situation of the Jade Bi unearthed from the tombs and sites of Qin and Han dynasties. According to the current data, which has been published, the number of it is about 1079. It is distributed in Shangxi, Henan, Shandong, Hebei, Jiangsu, Anhui, Guangdong, Hunan, Hubei, etc. This part briefly described the 159 pieces of the Jade Bi which has a clear unearthing and picture. The content is about the information of the tombs and the Jade Bi.The second chapter is about a morphological classification of the Jade Bi. It divides into two broad categories:out of profile and not. The former in accordance with the position of out profile is divided into top, two sides, three points, and others. The third chapter on the basis of data collection and classification explores the different periods of the Jade Bi, which has exact buried time. According to the previous classifications, I have observed and analyzed the change of them, which can be divided into four stages:Qin Dynasty and early period of the Western Han Dynasty, middle period of the Western Han Dynasty, late period of the Western Han Dynasty and the Eastern Han Dynasty. Then I summarized their characteristics respectively. The fourth part is discussed with its usage, according to the different burial location and ways. The work must be established on the base that the original burial is clearly visible. So the materials are from those tombs and sites, without stolen or unspoilt. Due to the limited time and energy, I will just introduce the visual purpose instead of the deep function. The fifth is about the dating of the Jade Bi made in Qin or Han dynasty, which is unearthed from the tombs during Wei to Qing dynasty, or handed down. However, it is not valued because of the lack of the time basis and the confusion about true or false. I proposed several views on those questions. All in all, there are a lot ways to go.
