Research Of Hu Huaichen’s New Poetry Theory And Poetry Creation Of “South Society”

In views of a lot of new- vernacular literature critics, “South Society” poet Mr. Hu Huaichen is certainly belongs to old literature trend, for the reason that his poetic view to China’s new cultural movement is not clear. Actually, this point is not justice for Mr.Hu. During the period of The May 4th Movement, Hu’s harmonious poetic view seems different with the calling of breaking the old ones and even potential of promoting old poems. While at present, if we judge Hu’s poetic view with a wider sight, it is not difficult to discover that his thoughts about put the poet in the center part should be recognized. Thus it is not reasonable to deny all his contribution for Chinese poetic views. Basing on those two points mentioned before, I will analyze Hu’s contribution for “new poem” in two sides. One of those is his theories for the early period of “new poem”, which including focusing on the quality of poems, proposition on “new poem”which based on Chinese literature, re-partition for different types of poems, fully building for journalism. The other part is the research about Hu’s poem creation, which includes his practice of his poem theory. The characteristics of this is his persuit for emotion and self-conscious, poetry language close to life and value of nationalization.Hu always rooted his poems on Chinese traditional literature, meanwhile maintain an open mind to foreign literature. He offered new energy and new mind into “new poem”from both theory and his creation. However, we cannot deny that Hu was too obsessed with traditional literature and was lack of new trend, leading to the fact that his theory and creation prevented the development of “new literature”. Treating these problems,we should keep the dialectical analysis with one divides into two attitudes.
