With the development of globalization, literature and arts of a nation is facing a question of how globalization influences it. In fact, under the strong impact of this trend, small and poor countries are most vulnerable, even will be put at risk of disappearance as a result of the dominance of large and rich countries. As a result, national culture plays a major role in preserving the sustainable development of each country. It is meant to maintain the appearance of a nation and also contribute to the cultural diversity of the world. Policies on developing literature and arts adopted in Vietnam accordingly aim to build an advanced culture deeply imbued with its national identity. Cinema is no exception in this context. Moreover, there have come changes in Vietnamese cinema from "Doi moi" period to the time of international integration. To be more specific, the situation of duplicating foreign works has deteriorated national culture, which has become a matter of serious concern. Considering situation emerged, the author investigates the national culturalism in Vietnamese cinema in the period from 1953 to 1985. This period witnessed the golden era of Vietnamese cinema. In this period, national culture played an important role in the development of Vietnam in general and of the literature and arts in particular. Grounded on relevant theories, the author researches several successful films in this period for exploring the content and the form national culturalism reflected in Vietnamese films and also its contribution to the success of these films. Therefore, film makers understand the constituent elements of national culturalism and make efficient use of them.
