The Order of the Garter is a kind of unique aggregation of knight nobility in the late medieval history of Western Europe.Edward III, whom based on his own experience and the present situation of British, as well as the traditional factors of the medieval knights, created an 26 people elite society which assembled by the standard-bearer of warriors and the nobility.The order set up a distinctive organization and daily management of personnel under the leadership of the sovereign, the specification of the statute and constitution, such as the College of St George, the almshouse, the prelate, the registar and the Chancellor.The main and most distinctive body in the Order of the Carter is the companion. Except the first founder is designated, all the members of the companion were produced by election. The recommend and referrals have strict requirements and legal procedure in the election, and the elected member were almost has military medals and the prestige, therefore, the order is not only a symbol of identity but also the representative of honor. As members included the excellent knights which status were special both at home and abroad makes the Order especially in its early history as a political and diplomatic role and became the link which maintain relations with the king and the domestic nobility and foreign allies.
