Based on the birth of tragedy written by Nietzsche, the thesis is to research Nietzsche’s idea on tragedy by interpreting “the will to power” which is contained in the Dionysian spirit. And then, by the way of “from destiny to the realm”, the dimension of the “goodness” which is neglected by Nietzsche’s theory of “the will to power” is to be pointed out. At last, including the idea on tragedy, the whole theories of Nietzsche will be reflected in the tension between the destiny and realm. This thesis consists three chapters besides the introduction. The first chapter centers on the birth of “the will to power”. After running through the thinking clue from Pre-Socratic to Schopenhauer and Nietzsche, and in comparison with the former two thoughts, the “the will to power” in Nietzsche’s theory is proved to be the base of Nietzsche to consider and interpret the world, which is just like the “primordium” in the Pre-Socratic philosophy. So Nietzsche’s theory of tragedy is a retrospect to Classical Greek tragedies. The second chapter is on the birth of Nietzsche’s view of tragedy. Including the consciousness of tragedy, the purport of tragedy and the foundation of tragedy, Nietzsche’s theory of tragedy is not only calling for the consciousness of fate which is hidden in the Classical Greek tragedies, but also pointing out a way to face the fate straightly, that is, rebel against destiny by “the will to power”.The third chapter interprets the transcendence of “the will to power”. Through the study of the relationship between “destiny”, “transcendence” and “realm”, this chapter want to dig out the essence of Nietzsche’s theory of tragedy, which is an attempt of transcendence after realizing the destiny. On this basis, this chapter probes into another kind of transcendence which is based on “realm”. Under the illumination of “realm”, the chain of the inevitable fate will finally be broken, and the tragedy will finally be trancended.
