Language can be used in one mentioned conversation or reference another conversation. The reporting or reference capacity greatly increased the expression of language ability and flexibility. It can not only talk about the distant action, but also can talk about distant conversation. From the perspective of language function, if the speaker or writer in some way marked the text appears in "another voice", then the source in any language section of the sound(its performance may also be hidden or fuzzy) can be called language report. It can be said that reporting is to speak a speech again. Reporting process is the inheritance of the crystallization of human thought, an important link of human information transmission, cultural communication, and knowledge transmission. It is an extremely important speech of human acting.Reporting is so important, however, at present, the academic study of reporting problems is very weak. Literature, especially narrative in the field of language reports classification is divergent. The Public opinions are conflict. By reviewing the standard and mode of each reporting speech classification, this paper identified five of the classifications more representative. Analyzing after careful comparison, this paper discovered that these five kinds of classification are not totally independent, but support each other, and even complement each other. Just differs from the names of the types of the reporting speech. At the same time, according to whether close to the narrator’s voice or whether to be away from the narrator’s voice, the reporting speech classification can form a rating system, so that each category with its own characteristics can become a sub item. Therefore, this paper hopes to build a reporting language continuum, to unify the academic circles of various words, to form a reporting language theory system, and to solve the dispute. Providing reference for the future research, a new field is also opening for a narrative text Reporting Language study. In addition to solve the previous disputes, the reporting language continuum can also help analyze the narrative text, explore the writer?s writing style, and provide reference for the future narrative text creation. For example, to analyze a narrative text, besides paying much attention to the theory of literature and art, we can also analyze the reporting language of the character in the narrative text and the narrator in narrative text these two aspects. Exploring the intention of the original intention of reporting and the narrator?s intention, then come to the reason that the implicit author wants to put. So that, we could study the author?s arrangement for the narrative text to see if the form does any help to the text, and what effect it might have, etc.Pride and Prejudice, since its inception in 1813, has been used as a classic around the world for more than 200 years. Professional scholars from different fields on the analysis of it have not been interrupted. This paper studied a great deal of information about the analysis of Pride and Prejudice, and found that most scholars concentrated on the narrative aspect that the author Jane Austen’s created, the accuracy of the translation, and the realistic significance in the novel. However, Pride and Prejudice has one obvious characteristic, is that the use of language reports by the author Jane Austen. But the academic circles? study from the perspective of the reported speech in Pride and Prejudice is quite few. This paper hopes to contribute more research to the Pride and Prejudice through the use of building the reporting language continuum. From the purpose that narrative text characters and the narrators use to the effects such mode and function of the reporting language might give. We could analyze the author?s creation intention of this arrangement by qualitatively and quantitatively. Through the specific case, to analyze what the application of reporting language continuum can do for a narrative text, and provide examples of the effective use of reporting language continuum.
