The Study Of Benjamin’s Literary Thoughts Under The Horizon Of Modernity

The Modernity problems are started from the establishment of the Western capitalist regime which caused a series of social changes in the European continent. And these changes are tremendously impact for the entire human historical development progress. In terms of literary areas, the Modernity problems is main manifested in the Modernism especially concern about the problems of aesthetic modernity. Walter Benjamin, known as the last European Intellectuals, works involved into these issues have been particular significant attention by academia. However, his text is usually described as a kind of defamiliarization image. Therefore, the idea of him is also fragmented distribution in those words. This article is attempts to from the perspectives of Modernity, and sum Benjamin’s idea up into three different logical areas, which is Knowledge, Power and Self, then combining his personal experience and life background and discuss the influence of the Modernity of aesthetic consciousness. The introduction of this paper will comb on the research of Modernity and Benjamin, and summarize the logical and consists of chapter in this text. The first chapter will discuss the concept of Modernity, and introduce Gerard Delanty’s three levels of Modernity which involved Knowledge, Power and Self as the methodology of this article. The chapter Two will start from the reflective of Self area and then expound the redemption thought of literary and art, especially focus on the discussing of Aesthetic Salvation. The chapter Three will begin in the skepticism of the Knowledge and discuss respectively the influence of art production and acceptation methods which represented by modern mechanical reproduction of technology, then probed into the effects of Aesthetic which means the traditional Aura turn on to Shocked. The Last chapter will form by the perspective of discourse in the field of Power, to understand the critics of mass culture under the horizon of Modernity by Benjamin. Finally we will summarize the literary thoughts of Benjamin and discuss the guiding significance meaning to realistic.
