Research On The Metrical Prose Of "Chuang-tzu"

"Chuang-tzu",which is the masterpiece of Taoism, occupies an important position in the history of philosophy, thought and literary. Because "Chuang-tzu" is full of verse and strange imagination, previous generation of scholars often associated it with poem. According to the research of "Chuang-tzu" rhyme of the Republic of China,we know there is lots of verse in "Chuang-tzu". But most of them were indicated by an rhyme place and addressed less literary and artistic features. Contemporary rhyme research of "Chuang-tzu" are mostly examples,less full disclosure with the rhyme. On the basis of a comprehensive collection of the former studies of "Chuang-tzu" rhyme of the Ancient times, this paper uses text close-reading, classification, discrimination, addenda methods in order to fully grasp the verse. So we can reach a systematic and delicate study of literary and artistic features of "Chuang-tzu".Specifically speaking,this paper is divided into four parts:Chapter one, the review of ancient study of the rhyme in "Chuang-tzu".This chapter evaluated the ancient study from three aspects:the ancient phonology, notes and Comments experts.It aims at combing the previous "Chuang-tzu" Rhyme study,criticizing and inheriting previous "Chuang-tzu research".Chapter two, Research on the rhyme of "Chuang-tzu". On the basis of Wang Li rhyme divisions and Tang Zuofan "Handbook of Shangguyin", to discriminate Ruan Yusong "Chuang-tzu variorum" brow bar standard of rhyme, and the results of previous supplement, as well as a list of charts obtained "Chuang-tzu" rhyme and verse proportion.Chapter three,Research on the characteristics of literature and art of "Chuang-tzu"."Chuang-tzu"often combined verse with its philosophy.There are various types of verse. Wendui is the most characteristic type of the rhyme.It already has the characteristics of the style of Fu. Most of the verse have the natural and fluid cadence and rhythm.This related with the aesthetic pursuit of Chuang-tzu. The verse of "Chuang-tzu"also had great impact on the later literature.Chapter four,The contrast of rhyme between "Chuang-tzu"and the prose of Zhuzi in Pre-qin dynasty.There has lots of verse in "Laozi" and "Xunzi" and less verse in "Lunyu"and"Mengzi".We could know their own characteristics by comparison."Laozi"is mostly composed by concise and intelligible rhyme,"Lunyu",which is the style of analects of quotations prose,has a little verse with a strong sense of rhythm."Mengzi"has a great imposing manner but little verse."Xunzi" intends to combine the verse with parallelism and antithesis. All of this is different with the natural and fluid verse of "Chuang-tzu".
