The PingJu opera The drunken Liu Ling is a traditional PingJu which stands out Sheng (a young male character type in Beijing opera)character, it is gathered in a theatre with singing, reciting, acting and playing. For me, no matter choosing what kind of skills to portray Liu Ling and to display Liu Ling’s haughty and unruly characteristic and his drunkenness, the discipline should be always on the basis of "beauty". To model this characteristic, some art means can be used such as singing, figuring, looking, throwing hair and breaking. This can truly achieve the perfect unity of the natural beauty of sound image and the stylized beauty of visual image in this kind of PingJu.Over a century, this play is still compelling, which fully proves that it has the value of reserve, heritage and research. During the recreating, I’m always upholding the principle that inheriting tradition as well as bringing forth new ideas. I’m also analyzing and sorting out to the script structure, content and form again in a more rational aesthetic view of art.Meanwhile,I’m studying the feasibility of the various performance means, and combining with my own artistic quality to arrange every stage action well. Making the most of the original stylized gestures of traditional Chinese opera.suppositional performance measures and the complex and difficult martial skills to show the endless charm of the four courses, which are singing, reciting, acting and playing.
