The Chinese civilization has a long history, built a lot of unique style architectural form, The archway is very the long historical evolution to develop into today’s shape, It also representative the identity of the Chinese nation and travel, is a very unique cultural value of the architectural form, but according to the division of China’s ancient architecture standard, it is only belong to the level of construction sketch, so for a long time, didn’t get the attention they deserve people, the protection of its research and other official building, we should try our best to change the present situation of insufficient.Gongxian region in history to build a large number of memorial archway, but unfortunately many memorial archway in the "cultural revolution" period destroyed off and is now the most ancient archway also was destroyed by the local person.Gongxian area housing section existing in filial piety, is mostly four pillars three eaves building type, they are mostly built of the stone material in the qing dynasty,there is a very delicate stone carving skills, and on the pillars and the frontal writing has a very beautiful language, calligraphy is of high aesthetic value, more important is behind each memorial, there is a special construction background, the content of more or less reflected the ideology and culture of people at that time, reflects the local folk customs, and reflects the social ideology and traditional values, so ancient archway is a living history of the carrier, this research for us Gongxian region during the qing dynasty social life provides fresh specimens, studying these ancient archway is so valuable.This paper mainly divided into three chapters, of which the first chapter is the introduction part, it is mainly used to introduce the classification of the memorial archway, historical evolution and the current research status at home and abroad in this field. The second chapter mainly discusses the situation and its section of Gongxian chastity and filial piety archway evolution and to explore the classificationof Gongxian memorial arch. The third chapter is mainly on the Gongxian memorial arch based on the analysis of the construction scale of specification, and on this basis to focus on its carving techniques and decorative content, and explores its positive value in today’s society.
